Week 9
Well, we're back from Maui, and if you have been keeping track of my progress (which I know you all have) you will see that I very proudly gained 3 pounds and got 0 points! I guess I'm out as far as the points go, and I will just starve myself until I get to my goal of 90 pounds so I can win the weight part of the challenge! I hope you can sense my sarcasm there.
Treo has dropped out of the competition because she hurt her back working out on Saturday and can hardly move, much less work out, so we don't have to worry about her anymore! Again, joking. She never paid anyway, so I guess it doesn't really matter.
Speaking of that, I still need money from Dane, Nolan, Dave, and Melanie. Just a friendly reminder.
Anyway, keep up the good work! It looks like Justin and Maria might just win all the money. Way to go you two! We only have 3 more weeks to go!

Just Some Thoughts
First of all, I just wanted to let everyone know that Sheri has decided to drop out of the competition.
Then, I also wanted to mention a couple of things. I know that the people who were at Scott and Tobi's for dinner the night we made all the rules already know this, but I wanted to be clear for anyone who might not know. The points can only be earned in one day at a time. For example, you can not work out for 2 hours one day, and none the next and count 4 points. Also, the free day is one day during the week where no points are awarded. Its not one free day per point, so you can't eat sweets on Monday, potatoes and bread on Tuesday, not work out on Wednesday, and drink soda on Thursday, etc. If you were to do that, you would lose one point on each of those days.
I only bring this up because I have wished I could do those things, and know that I can't, but wonder if maybe those of you who weren't there when we made up the rules, think you can. If you have any questions, please post a comment below.
And lastly, if you are in the competition, we are going to have a celebration dinner for everyone at Scott and Tobi's house on Sunday, March 22nd. If you live in Utah, you MUST BE THERE TO WIN. (So far, the only out of towner is Chris, and he has never given me an update, so we should all be able to make it) We will do the final weigh in at their home. Its not that I don't trust everyone, but as we found the night we weighed in, most of our numbers were off a little.
Thanks everyone!

Week 4
We are now entering week 4. I hope you are all still working hard. I have only gotten a few updates from last week, and still need some from the previous week as well. Keep up the good work!

Week 3
Welcome to week three everyone! I have gotten updates from mostly everyone, and so far everyone is doing awesome! Due to popular demand, the point system will remain the same, so lay off the white stuff. I have to admit, I made that post in hopes that everyone was having just as hard a time as I am, and everyone would quickly agree. Well, you have spoken, and I have been DENIED! Nice try right? Anyway, I still need updates from Dane, Nolan, Julia, Craig, Josh (are you still in?),Kim, Dave, Melanie, Sheri, and Chris. And I still need pictures from Josh, Kim (I don't know why I didn't get one of you that first Sunday with everyone else), and Sheri. And Chris, Nolan, Kim, and Josh I need your beginning weights since I have somehow lost them. Other than that, keep up the good work, and if anyone has a fun activity that everyone (in Utah) can participate in, let us know about it!

Question
Hey everyone, Sheri brought up a good point. She is on a low fat diet, not a low carb diet, so she is having a hard time with the "no white stuff" point. I am just wondering if we should eliminate that point, and have everyone do it their own way? I still think sweets and soda are good to block, but what do you guys think?

Week 2
Okay everyone, week 1 is over! Good job! I need to hear from most everyone how many points you earned and how much you weigh. You can either leave a comment below, or email me at bjkeddington@comcast.net. I have received money from a few of you, but still need it from most. Also, Annie had to drop out for financial reasons, but hopefully will still be working on her goals! Good luck this week!

And We're Off!
Okay everyone, today is the big day. The majority of those of us participating met last night to discuss the rules and guidelines of the contest. We came up with some pretty good stuff. Like I said before, there will be two winners. One winner will be the person who loses the most weight. This will be calculated by percentage, so that we all have an equal chance at winning. The second winner will be the person who earns the most points. There will be a total of 6 points that can be earned each day. They are earned by:
Drink six 8 oz. glasses of water = 1 point
No soda, diet or regular = 1 point
No sugary treats or desserts = 1 point
No white bread, potatoes, rice, or pasta = 1 point
(whole grain bread and pasta is okay, as well as brown rice)
Work out for 30 min = 1 point
Work out for 1 hour or more = 2 points
We have decided to allow one free day per week. You can choose a different day each week, or wait until the end of the week and see which day you earned the least amount of points, or have a designated day each week. However you want to do it, we won't count points on one day each week. In other words, there can be a total of 6 points earned a day for a total of 36 points a week. Points start over each day. So even if you work out for 3 hours one day, and drink 12 glasses of water, you still just get 3 points for that.
Last night we took before pictures and weight measurements of most everyone who will be competing. If you weren't there, will you please email me a picture of yourself and your weight so I can add it to the blog. I will post the pictures of everyone else tonight so that you can see what I am looking for. My email is bjkeddington@comcast.net or you can just send it to the connection.
You can keep track of your points daily, and leave a comment on the blog every week with your total points earned, and your total weight lost. Or you can leave a comment every day and I can keep track of it all. However you want to do it. You will have to weigh yourself once a week, preferably on the same day, and at the same time of day each time. We will then have a final weigh in on March 22 at my parents house to decide the winners.
I am really excited about this, and hope that we can all stick to it and see a big difference in 11 weeks. Good luck everyone!
